I often tell my dog teams, especially those with “problem dogs” (those that bark and lunge or worse), that they are going to learn more about dogs than they ever expected. I know this from first hand experience! I began learning about dog science and positive reinforcement training by addressing my own dog’s reactivity.

I learned within days of having Goldie, a 65 pound pit bull, there was no way I was going to out muscle her into behaving better. I needed another way. Fortunately for me (and for Goldie), as a dog walker in San Francisco I knew several Positive Reinforcement dog trainers and they guided me down the kinder, gentler, more effective path to changing Goldie’s feelings and actions.

Now you may not want to go all the way down the rabbit hole of dog training that I did. But you will hopefully be so inspired by seeing the changes in your dog that I saw in Goldie and in every dog I have worked with since that you will want to know at least as much as you need to know to train your dog (knowing every dog is different, they all learn the same ways).

Over the 27 years that I have been working professionally with dogs I’ve studied at and graduated from several different positive reinforcement dog training schools conferences, seminars and various online courses as I really enjoy learning about dog science and dog training.

It really is a golden era of dog training as the science is coming in fast and furious! I get a kick out of teaching others about their dogs and to see their dogs transform using positive reinforcement training methods.
